Two More Days...
Just two more days until Family, Disneyland and Graduation. To say we are excited is an understatement :).

Race Day!
Saturday, May 2, 2009, I completed my first half marathon. I ran in the Palos Verdes Half Marathon with my best friend and old roommate, Stephanie Heaton. The excitement in the air was contagious as almost 1,500 people waited to start the marathon that morning. During training, they say to not run the full length of the race, as the adrenaline and excitement of race day carries you through to the end. I obeyed the advice, but was worried the entire week before that it might not be true for me. I'm very happy to say that it worked! I ran 13.1 miles and except for a very steep hill in the very beginning of the race equaling .5 miles (that I knew I would be walking due to an injury during training) Steph and I ran the entire race without stopping. We threw water and gatorade in our mouths as we ran through the water stations and chewed on Blocks and Jelly Beans (both energy and electrolyte sources) as we continued to run through 13 miles. We both have agreed that the last mile was definitely the hardest. It would not end!! But words cannot describe the feeling I had as I crossed the finish line. The work that had gone into training for 2.5 months had all become worth it in that split second, and I seriously understand now why people become addicted to this. It was glorious, and I will do it again :).
Right before the race.
Nic rode his bike and followed us for about the first 4 miles, cheering us on and taking pictures. He was my biggest support through training and I can't thank him enough. I would not have made it to this day without his help.

The start: 7:30 am

Mile One: I was still extremely excited at this point, if you couldn't tell :).

We seriously didn't know Nic was taking video at this point, hence the continuous waving we thought was being captured by pictures.
Running along...about mile 4.

We could see the finish line...
